Henry - Week 9

It has been a pretty uneventful week but the weather has been great so we have been getting out every day to walk around the neighborhood.

Henry is smiling more and more every day.  I get so excited to see his little smiles and grins it makes me want to spend all day trying to get him to smile again and again.  I hope I can capture some of these cute smiles with my camera but I never seem to have it around when I need it.

The little guy is still a night owl but there were several times this week when he went almost 8 hours with out waking up to feed.  He has been going to bed around 10 or 11pm and will usually wake up at about 3 or 4 am to feed but a couple of times this week he slept in until 6:30 to feed and then sleep again until 9:30.   We are still going to work on getting to bed earlier but right now we are just happy to get some good sleep.

Henry has always loved his tub time with dad and this week he has started to kick and splash the water with his feet which makes a mess but we don’t mind.

Goodbye 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
We were truly blessed in 2011. Living in London has been amazing and provided us with so many fun adventures to places like Croatia, The Amalfi Coast (Italy), Paris and Cannes (France), Edinburgh (Scotland), Amsterdam, Bruges (Belgium) and all over the England.  We were however most blessed in 2011 by Gay's survival of breast cancer and the most recent addition to our family, our first baby, Henry John Wilson. We lost grandma Pat in 2011 who was always so involved in our lives. We miss and love her.

Looking forward to 2012, we are very excited to begin our travels again and share the experiences with Henry. As you can see below, he is developing well and mastering some of the most important aspects of being a great baseball player, spitting.

This week Henry had his 6 week check-up with the pediatrician at the Portland Hospital.  He was on his best behavior and was awake and alert the whole time.  The Doctor commented on how visually alert he was for being only 6 weeks.  He kept his eyes focus on the Doctor while he was being examined and then he would look back at me.  He is happy and healthy and developing, as he should.  Here are some of the details:
-             Weight – 10.5 lb (4.8 kg) 50th percentile
-             Length – 22 ½ in (57 cm) 75th percentile
-             Head – 15.3 in (39 cm) 75th percentile

We are working on his immunization schedule to make sure he is getting all the vaccinations he would get in the US which is more than what they provide in the NHS.

We also went to the US Embassy this week to register the birth, apply for a social security card and passport.  Hopefully in 3 weeks we’ll be able to travel with the little guy.
